-The difference between the documentary and the texts were, tone, and main focus. In the documentary it showed the emotional aspect to this by showing footage and the interviews. It also focused more on the protest/march on urban renewal.
— Based on watching the movie and reading the required text (or one of the alternative texts provided), what is the role of the individual in a democracy? (Specifically, cite the reading in the response).
The role in the documentary was an act of vigilant. Someone who defends their views and values with actions and not just words. “America as the land of our adoption; the rest have come from those who did the same*. For this reason we have some right to consider ourselves a picked group, a group of those who had the courage to break from the past and brave the dangers and the loneliness of a strange land”. America is the land of it’s people and therefore, any change should be made for the people and for the majority, never against it. As citizens we have every right to disapprove of that change and every right to fight against it.
